I’m Christine Egan, a person-centred counsellor, clinical supervisor, and BACP-registered therapist based in Horsforth, Leeds.

I work with adults and couples, offering a calm, supportive space where you can explore whatever you’re facing, at your own pace. People come to counselling for many different reasons, and my role is not to give advice or tell you what to do, but to help you feel heard, understood, and supported as you make sense of your experience and find a way forward that feels right for you.

At the heart of my work is a belief that meaningful change happens when people feel accepted without judgement. Person-centred counselling focuses on creating the right conditions for this to happen, allowing you to explore your thoughts and feelings openly, build self-understanding, and move forward in a way that reflects who you are.

How sessions work

My counselling practice is based on Regent Road in Horsforth. I also see clients at the Tower Clinic in Cookridge, when preferred or by referral.

Sessions are available in person, online, or by phone, depending on what feels most comfortable and accessible for you.

Training, qualifications and professional development

Before training as a counsellor, I worked in healthcare as a cardiac nurse and later as a health visitor, supporting families with children under the age of five. This background continues to inform my work today, particularly my understanding of care, compassion, and the importance of feeling safe and respected when talking about personal or difficult experiences.

As a counsellor, I am committed to ongoing professional development to ensure my work remains ethical, reflective, and effective. In line with the BACP ethical framework, I regularly update and extend my skills through continuing professional development. My formal qualifications are listed below.

Client Testimonials

When I first saw Christine I was unsure on how to deal with my emotions and anxieties, and honestly, scared of the word ‘therapy/counselling’. I found it hard to talk about how I felt and thought everyone would judge me. Christine provided me with the safe space I needed. Not once did I feel judged or uncomfortable (like I thought I would). I cannot believe the difference in myself from my first session to my last. I am no longer the nervous wreck who is always waiting for my next ‘mental breakdown’. I know I will still have harder days, but Christine is there if I need to just check back in for a one off session. I honestly cannot thank her enough. I have a much more positive outlook and would recommend counselling to anyone!
We would really like to thank you for all you have done for us over the past 4 months or so. We wouldn't have been able to do it without you.
Thanks for teaching us key practices to implement in our lives going forward
Our intention was for us to help deal with the issues of coping with our son but we realised after the second appointment that we had to overcome issues with our relationship. Thanks to Christine we were able to work through our issues and we are in a better solid place as a couple
Christine has provided a safe and non judgemental place where we can talk openly
We have also not felt any pressure to divulge details which has created a relaxed atmosphere
Christine has listened to us both without taking any sides and doesn’t rush the session
I am very happy to recommend Christine!
She is a very good listener with a talent for saying just what you need to hear, when you need to hear it. She has supported me to do the work I needed to do to move forward positively.
Just a quick email to say thanks again for the last year of counselling. Your kindness has offered me a safe space to reflect and work through my emotions.
As you know, it has changed my life immeasurably for the better!
Thanks again.

Christine was a very kind and calming presence, she helped me work through my problems in a non judgemental, safe space. I felt like she really took the time to get to know me, she listened to me when I needed to be heard and pushed me when I needed to be challenged. She helped me develop some very valuable tools to carry forward into the future, and I know she’ll be there should I need to return. Thank you!
